The Incorporation of a Battery Storage System in Data Center Facilities

Line Scale Form is proud and excited to serve as Architect of Record for University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Technology Innovation Center project, which will house the campus internet connectivity, technology infrastructure, state-of-the-art data center, and a number of UAB IT employees. We’ve had the pleasure of working with a great team of engineers, data center experts, contractors, and consultants on this cutting-edge project.

Recently, Data Center Dynamics hosted an immersive virtual conference experience to discuss topics such as:

  • Sustainability and the journey to net-zero data centers
  • How will hyperscale dominate the edge
  • Industries of the future and the impact of COVID-19

A few members of the UAB Technology Innovation Center project team conducted one of the conference webinars regarding the incorporation of a battery storage system as the primary source of backup power into the design of data center facilities – participants were Rachel Moorehead (UAB IT‘s Executive Director of Infrastructure and Enterprise Operations), Rajan Battish (RSP Design), and Jake Millan (Tesla). As more data center facilities focus on innovation and sustainability, incorporating clean sources of energy into the data center design model provides an innovative way to reduce data center facilities’ overall impact to local communities and the global environment.
