Herrington Architects is Rebranding and Restructuring to Become Line Scale Form

After 25 years of business, Herrington Architects is rebranding as Line Scale Form and restructuring to create a leadership team of multiple principals, each leading the firm in specific, executive roles. The firm will focus on Multifamily, Commercial, and Mission Critical/Data Center Projects.

Bruce Herrington, Line Scale Form’s Managing Principal and CEO, created Herrington Architects in 1994 with offices in a renovated, century-old warehouse on Richard Arrington Jr. Boulevard overlooking the city. Under Bruce’s sole owner leadership, Herrington Architects focused on multi-family housing throughout the Southeast and university work including the Hill Student Center at University of Alabama at Birmingham and the Bryant Drive Retail Center at the University of Alabama as well as residence halls at multiple universities in the Southeast.

“I founded Herrington Architects to create a synergy of collaboration with clients, partners, consultants and community. I have enjoyed working on projects with the team that I’ve built over the years. Now, as Line Scale Form, we can offer our expertise in multiple building types and provide clients practical design solutions and exceptional service in a multi-state region.”  Bruce Herrington

Bruce recently elevated three of the senior personnel to be principals of the firm to create a collective leadership team:

Bruce Herrington, AIA, LEED AP – Founding Principal, CEO

Todd Clark, AIA, LEED AP – Principal, Director of Design

Cayce Duffee, AIA, NCARB – Principal, Director of Operations

Anne Marie L. Ellis, AIA, NCARB – Principal, Director of Marketing

In restructuring the firm, Herrington’s extensive experience in Multifamily has created a strong foundation for growth and allows the firm to expand into new project types: Mission Critical/Data Center Facilities and Commercial projects. The firm is the architect for UAB’s Technology Innovation Center currently under construction on campus. This $19.2 million data center will help power and support the critical, world-renowned research and work being done at UAB. It will house the state’s fastest super-computer and will be supported by a Tesla Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). Line Scale Form bridges the gap between the highly technical and the plain spoken.

Additionally, the firm recently completed Ignite Cycle at Pepper Place, a boutique cycling studio. Line Scale Form is working to partner with more local businesses and building owners on commercial projects that strengthen Birmingham’s urban fabric. From new construction, tenant fit-out, adaptive reuse, preservation and restoration, Line Scale Form is positioned to positively impact Birmingham’s built environment.

The principals worked closely with Birmingham’s Scout Branding to create a new firm name and logo to reflect this new synergy. The partners’ new vision statement and core values reflect the firm’s new direction.

Vision Statement:

Creating Elegant Solutions

Core Values:

We take great care in what we do.

We make smart decisions.

We work well with others.

We are real people.

We are fun.

We know how to lead, and we know when to follow.
